Tuesday Night Idol Season 9 Recap

Katie Stevens: She was flat for most of the performance. The time she spent being un-flat, she was boring. You have to bring life to a Kelly Clarkson song. I felt like I was at karaoke. I’m ready for her to go home. No star-power at all! Randy thought it felt like Karaoke too. Ellen thought it was the right song but she didn’t feel the words. Kara said something about her having a good radio voice but not knowing herself as an artists. Hush Kara!

Siobhan Magnus:  She sings a 1964 Classic, House of the Rising son by the Animals …and Booooring!!!  But great voice… Her voice has a great hue to it. She hit the high notes and finished the song off but I wouldn’t have chosen it. It was very karaoke. I didn’t like it. Randy liked it. Ellen says Siobhan is why she loves music. Very dramatic Ellen. Kara says she is unique and different. Am I missing something. Simon and I are on the same page. ALL of it was wierd. Very dark.

Lacey Brown: I like Lacy from the moment she opens her mouth. It’s different and the song choice is good. The look fits the song. I’m impressed. Star power for days! I would buy her album based on this performance! Randy thought it was her best performance.  He and I both felt her head voice. Ellen says the song sounded like it was written for here. Kara liked it… but she still gets on my nerves! Simon didn’t love the song choice like I said but he loved that she sang it well!

Katelyn Epperly: She takes on Carol King’s “I feel the Earth Move” and does it no justice. Looks like she has on a bad Beyonce wig from Gold Member. Nothing was amazing about the performance and she is going home! I want her going home. What a bore! Who chose that song? She has no star power… terrible! The judges agree. Kara says he didn’t feel like Katelyn was competing. I am in agreement. Katelyn says she was trying to be less corny. Whatever. Simon likes her hair. He and I disagree! He likens her performance to Friday night request! She needs to go home!

Didi Benami: Didi takes on Fleetwood Mac and has incredible tone. When I look for an Idol, I look for someone whose performance would be similar to what I might get at a concert! SHe was awesome! However, something tells me she would be terrible with a more pop sound! Randy thought it was better than last week but was looking for more of a “WOW” moment. Ellen thought it was lovely and was proud of her tenacity. Kara loved it. Simon agrees with kara. He thought it was head and shoulders above the evening’s competition. He thought Didi’s entire performance was a “Wow” moment.

Paige Miles: Miles sings a classic… “Smile” and it sounds great as she starts off. This song will always remind me of Michael Jackson and his funeral. Meanwhile, Page is working it with a great tone although there are a few notes that I raised an eyebrow…. she had a few flat notes. I wasn’t really feeling it, to tell you the truth! Randy didn’t think it worked! He said the song was too big. Ellen thought it was “sad and heavy.” I didn’t think that! I just thought she picked a bad song, AGAIN! She is definitely at risk of going home! Simon thinks so too.

Crystal Bowersox: She has American Idol written ALL over her! I loved it! She does Chapman justice with “Give Me One Reason” and it is waaay above average! Randy loves it! There wasn’t anything he didn’t love. Ellen needs new adjectives. Kara says she knows who she is! Umm.. who are you Kara? But I agree with Kara.. I see the song on her record. Simon puts her in the top 12 for her confidence!

Lilly Scott: She was my absolute favoite last week. I like her style and I think she will give Crystal some competition. She looks great! I love how she gets into her songs! She seems very attached to lyrics and I LOVE that!  The judges better be nice. Randy loves it and thinks she is in the zone. Ellen felt the same way! Kara says she made Patsy Klein contemporary. Simon thought she was brave but didnt think it had the WOW factor. I disagree!

Best of the Night: Crystal Bowersox & Lilly Scott

Worst of the Night: Katie Stevens & Paige Myles
