Christopher F. Linder is a good man who simply wanted to turn the city of Pawnee, OK around. The voters thought of him as a qualified and capable candidate. The Arizona Executive Board of Clemency didn’t care. In 1999, Linder was apart of a crime that resulting in him having to spend 5 years in prison. Oklahoma State law says that you cannot be an elected official without a clean record, free of any kind of felony.
Only one of the 4 Arizona board members thought that this man’s turnaround was enough to give him the chance to turn a city around. This is a sad story but Mr. Linder failed to communicate that he had spent jail time in Arizona but the media was tipped after it was too late to take his name off the ballot. He STILL won.
