The messages in pop culture are generally in tune with “do it now” and “you only live once.” There’s a great emphasis on living in the moment and forgetting about the consequences. The producers of what becomes popular often operate under the philosophy that people can censor what they don’t want to hear and that accountability doesn’t lie with artist. Couldn’t be any farther from the truth.
It’s time to stop supporting artist who ignore the fact that they have influence over a young generation in ways that some parents do not! I want to hear more songs about abstaining from sex… getting married… loving the person you give yourself to… graduating from a school! These and other thoughts were sparked by my 43rd listen of Brandy’s new song “No Such Thing as Too Late.”
